About The Band
Rock Covers Band in Lincoln covering classic rock with a sprinkle of modern and old school guitar favourites - the dance floor never sounded so good! ‘Think four established musicians having a very good (and loud) time and you’ve collided head-on with the Junkyard Dukes.'
Junkyard Dukes was formed during the Covid 19 Pandemic in 2020, meaning they spent the first 6 months talking remotely, via Whatsapp and Facebook before ever meeting together as a band to play a single note. But boy when they finally were able to have that first rehearsal... the rest is history!
Band Bios
Tony Kennedy - Guitar
Tony started playing after being inspired by Phil Collen from Def Leppard, who is still a major influence. Other big influences are Vivian Campbell, Alan Murphy, David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons, and of course Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix.
Favourite bands include: Def Leppard, Queensrÿche, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Police, etc
Tony has played in a number of Lincoln based bands including; Envy, Local Heroes, Highly Strung, Touch & Go, Caught Red Handed, Disco Inferno and Hold The Line".
Barry Wood - Drums
Barry studied drums at music college back in the day before branching out into his second love - writing - and working as a news reporter for the Lincolnshire Echo circa 2005. Now he makes a living in communications for the NHS.
His five favourite bands are Queen, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Eagles and Marillion - not necessarily in that order. Drumming heroes are Phil Collins, Blondie’s Clem Burke and the E Street Band’s Max Weinberg - probably in that order.
You’ll mostly find Barry hitting them very hard - especially the hi-hat and bass drum!
Andy Slack – Bass
The son of a professional musician, Andy was always surrounded by music and musicians. Mostly self-taught with a little help from dad, whose first lesson of a 12 Bar Blues bass line, that he proudly still uses today. Andy learned his craft playing with local bands during his school years and honed his skills playing jam nights until he met Colin Stewart and helped form the hugely popular Stolen Fridays, where he played hundreds of gigs over 7 years.
Then Andy met Tony and they hit it off instantly. Partially because Tony was the best guitarist he had ever worked with! They both knew Barry and suddenly a band was forming. They just needed a singer… enter an American named Chad
Chad Bragg- Vocals
Chad started singing at an early age back home in Virginia. He joined the school choir where he experienced the rush of singing in front of an audience and soon joined his first rock band in High School influenced by Def Leppard, Dokken, Bon Jovi, Queensrÿche, Poison etc.
After moving to the UK, Chad spent the last 10 years playing in Rock & Roll bands, Sixty Something and The Rockin' Beats covering favourites from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s further developing as a performer.
Now coming full circle, with 3 like minded musicians, Chad is singing the songs that motivated him to first step onto the stage 30 years ago!
